SCOPE OF WORK
Hydrostructures completed an evaluation of specific parts of the Town’s sanitary sewer interceptors including Swift Creek, McGregor, Indian Creek, Black Creek, York, Carpenter, Crabtree, Walnut Creek, Williams Branch, Aerial, Kit Creek, Long Branch, Lynn’s Branch, White Hall, Speight, Village Greenway, and the Reserve Interceptors. These lines equate or total approximately 243,000 LF of 8” – 54” gravity sewers and approximately 800 manholes. The project included performing condition assessments on all interceptor lines and manholes, sub-centimeter survey of critical interceptors, developing detailed rehabilitation and repair recommendations for all observed defects, preparing cost estimates for all recommendations, and prioritizing repairs based on the severity of the problems assessed and observed. Brown and Caldwell was a subconsultant to Hydrostructures on this project.
In the initial phase of the project, our crews cleaned and inspected all of the sewer mains and manholes. Many of the interceptors were located in extremely wet, off-road, environmentally sensitive areas that required the use of specialized equipment including tracked easement cleaning machines and CCTV inspection cameras mounted on all-terrain vehicles. Many of the lines also contained large quantities of rocks, sand, grease, roots and other debris that required the use of a wide variety of hydraulic and mechanical cleaning heads and cutters.
BENEFITS FOR THE CLIENT
All data was used to develop project descriptions for the Town to include in their Capital Improvement Plan and final project data was compiled into a database which was imported into the Town’s MapInfo GIS system and Wincan video database.
