SERVICES: Water and Sewer Mapping
WORK PERFORMED: October 2007 – February 2010
Mr. Lindsay Mize, Executive Director
211 West C Street, Butner, NC 27509
SCOPE OF WORK
The South Granville Water and Sewer Authority (SGWASA) serves over 3,000 customers in Butner, Stem, Cozart and South Granville County. SGWASA chose Hydrostructures to perform real time kinetic (RTK) surveying, attribute collection and mapping of 3,100 meters, 1,300 valves, 650 fire hydrants, 89 miles of water lines, 1,700 sewer manholes and 76.8 miles of sewer main.
BENEFITS FOR THE CLIENT
Prior to this project, the client used plan sheet data for their mapping and in some recently acquired sections of the system there was no documentation. The GIS database incorporated field survey data, record drawings and SGWASA staff knowledge to solve this problem and improved processes for the client. This was accomplished by designing a geodatabase for the water system, providing a map book for field personnel to review and provided the client with ESRI software which allowed the SGWASA staff to view the map. 725 drawings were georeferenced to create the database.
